The Spring 2016 read-to-wear shows were filled with different styles from romantic to practical, punk rock to intricate and stylish to other-wordly. Yet every collection came together under the common theme of originality and staying true to who you are. In each show there was something raw and unique which screamed youth and self assurance. However with so many different shows and styles available its hard to know which ones to look at and what styles are going to be seen splashed across social media or walking towards you down the streets. So to help sort through the mess, I have created a list of the top five shows from Paris fashion week, Spring 2016.

1. The Louis Vuitton show had a punk-rocky vibe  with dark, bold colours, leathers, and fish net shirts all accompanied with strong boxy shoulders. The styles from this show are very copyable, staying true to the ready-to-wear season. More of the collection can be seen here.

2. This list wouldn’t be complete without the Chanel show, this season the theme was airlines as the catwalk was transformed into a waiting lounge for Chanel airways (an airline I’m we all want to fly with). The collection replicated the comfortable attire one would wear to the airport, flats, caps, oversized sweaters, blazers and roller suitcases . It was however a slightly upgraded version as one would expect from Chanel. To look at more from the collection click here.

3. Saint Laurent‘s show was very public friendly with something for every occasion from a fancy dinner to a party to a shopping trip. All the models wore knee high wellington boots and sparkly tiaras which mirrored the shows theme of casual meets fancy. To see more of the collection click here.

4. Esteban Cortazar’s muse was an “other-wordly creature” which brought forth python patterned tops, diamond encrusted jackets, wide cut outs, eye-catching metallics and long flowy materials. The looks were wonderfully weird which made the collection unique and interesting (yet perhaps not one that we will be wearing out just quite yet). To see more from the collection click here.

5. And finally Balmain. Olivier Rousteing’s social media fame (and connection with the Kardashians) brought a lot of attention to this season’s collection. He included more nude colours than previous shows but continued with the usual big ruffles, beads and crystals, clinched waists with low cut tops and cutouts throughout. His collection was one of my personal favourites from all of Paris fashion week with such beautiful and bold clothes. To see more from the Balmain collection click here.

I hope this list has made things easier, but of course there are hundreds of more shows to look through for style inspiration or some fashion porn!
